Why I Like Movies

I know why I like movies. I can control whatever I say in them. If I want I can go back and edit it to make myself seem better and always the good guy. What's more is that I completely control what other people say and do. No one makes me mad or sad, because even if it seems like they do, I was the one who made them do that. I'm very aware that I'm a selfish person, probably the most selfish person I know. But who cares? At the end of the day I know I've done the best I can, and even if I didn't, we can always edit it in post-production.

A Message From DJ Bowie T

As I fly over the crisp, blue ocean en route to Nantucket for the final three weeks of the summer it is easy to feel small. Even as a founding member of the biggest progressive rap group to ever hit American University, I stop to think how little I am in comparison to the vast black reaches of space and the universe.

I would like to take this moment to formerly resign as a full-time member of Maurice Sips Hot Coffee and announce my temporary hiatus as resident DJ. This decision was not made easily, nor decided lightly, although my sojourn to another continent for the next five months did have an impact. There is much uncertainty and trepidation for my upcoming trip to London. For instance, I have no idea what the exchange rate is, so what is the equivalent of a $30 tee in England? Is it a £15, £20, £40 tee or is it something different like a £30 afternoon tea? How will I know if the tee/tea I am buying has sufficient swag?

Anyways. Where was I? Oh yeah, as I was saying, my current departure from Maurice Sips Hot Coffee does not mean a departure from music. Music has always been there for me, to help me, to support me, to caress me in difficult times. Where would I be today without Chris Martin telling me nobody said it was easy, or Zac Brown singing about how America is made of fried chicken, or even Mr. Dev and Mr. Jay rhapsodizing about dorm room beds filled with farts?

As all great artists who have quit groups they are in, I feel the need to cite "musical differences" as one of the reasons as well. As much as I have enjoyed expanding my musical horizons with the likes of Kanye West, Jay-Z, and fun., I would also like to return to my roots of Coldplay, Dave Matthews Band and John Mayer as well as adding new acts such as Zac Brown Band, The White Stripes and Of Monsters and Men to my repertoire.

I am grateful for my time with Maurice Sips Hot Coffee and thank them for a wonderful and diverse year. I will never forget coming in 7th place at Apollo Night at a school with 67.4% Caucasian population or performing at a high school for five 70-year-old grandmothers. I never know what to expect, but I can guarantee one thing: that 2013 will be our year. And I can't wait to see y'all then.
